హైదరాబాద్: ఆస్ట్రేలియాలోని గోల్డ్ కోస్ట్ వేదికగా జరుగుతోన్న కామన్వెల్త్ గేమ్స్లో భారత వెయిట్లిఫ్టర్లు సత్తా చాటుతున్నారు. తాజాగా మరో స్వర్ణాన్ని సాధించారు. శనివారం పోటీల్లో భాగంగా పురుషుల వెయిట్ లిఫ్టింగ్ 85 కేజీల విభాగంలో తెలుగబ్బాయి వెంకట్ రాహుల్ రాగల స్వర్ణం సాధించాడు.
మొత్తం 338 కేజీలను ఎత్తిన వెంకట్ రాహుల్ స్వర్ణం సాధించాడు. క్లీన్ అండ్ జర్క్లో 187 కేజీలు ఎత్తిన రాహుల్ స్నాచ్లో 151 కేజీలు ఎత్తి స్వర్ణం దక్కించుకున్నాడు. దీంతో కామన్వెల్త్ గేమ్స్లో భారత్ స్వర్ణాల సంఖ్య నాలుగుకు చేరింది. వెంకట్ రాహుల్ ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్లోని గుంటూరు జిల్లాకు చెందిన వాడు.

ఇప్పటి వరకు ఈ టోర్నీలో భారత్కు వచ్చిన ఆరు పతకాలు కూడా వెయిలిఫ్టింగ్లోనే రావడం విశేషం. శనివారం జరిగిన పోటీల్లో 77కేజీల విభాగంలో తమిళనాడుకు చెందిన సతీశ్కుమార్ శివలింగం స్వర్ణం కైవసం చేసుకున్న సంగతి తెలిసిందే. ఈ నేపథ్యంలో కర్ణాటక ప్రభుత్వం అతడికి రూ.50లక్షల నజరానా ప్రకటించింది.
21వ కామన్వెల్త్ గేమ్స్లో ఇప్పటి వరకు భారత్కు 4 స్వర్ణాలు, ఒక కాంస్యం, ఒక రజతం దక్కాయి. తొలి రోజు మహిళల 48 కేజీల వెయిట్లిఫ్టింగ్ విభాగంలో మీరాబాయి చాను, రెండో రోజు 48 కేజీల విభాగంలో సంజిత చాను, శనివారం 77 కేజీల విభాగం పోటీల్లో సతీశ్ కుమార్ శివలింగంతో పాటు వెంకట్ రాహుల్లు స్వర్ణాలను గెలిచారు.
