హైదరాబాద్: 21వ కామన్వెల్త్ గేమ్స్ ప్రారంభమైన తొలిరోజే భారత్ పతకాల మోత మోగించింది. వెయిట్ లిఫ్టింగ్ విభాగంలో 23 ఏళ్ల మీరాబాయి చాను భారత్కు తొలి స్వర్ణ పతకం అందించింది. గురువారం జరిగిన పోటీల్లో మీరాభాయ్ చాను అద్భుత ప్రదర్శన చేసింది. గతేడాది ప్రపంచ ఛాంపియన్షిప్లో స్వర్ణ పతకాన్ని కైవసం చేసుకున్న తొలి భారతీయురాలిగా చరిత్ర సృష్టించిన మీరాబాయి చాను కామన్వెల్త్ గేమ్స్లోనూ తన సత్తా చాటింది.

స్నాచ్, పుల్లింగ్ లిప్ట్ల్లో చాను కామెన్వెల్త్ రికార్డును సృష్టించింది. చాను తన మూడు ప్రయత్నాల్లో 80, 84, 86 కేజీల బరువును ఎత్తడం విశేషం. మహిళల 48 కేజీల విభాగంలో చాను మొత్తం 196 కేజీలు ఎత్తి స్వర్ణాన్ని గెలిచింది. 21వ కామన్వెల్త్ గేమ్స్లో భారత్కు వచ్చిన తొలి పతకం ఇదే కావడం విశేషం.
గురువారం జరిగిన పోటీల్లో మీరాభాయ్ చాను స్వర్ణం కైవసం చేసుకోగా.. మారిషస్కు చెందిన హనిత్రా(170కేజీలు) రజతం గెలుచుకోగా, శ్రీలంకకు చెందిన దినూష(155) కాంస్యంతో సరిపెట్టుకుంది. 2014 గ్లాస్గో వేదికగా జరిగిన కామెన్వెల్త్ గేమ్స్లో చాను రజతంతో సరిపెట్టుకున్న సంగతి తెలిసిందే.
అంతకముందు పురుషుల 56 కేజీల విభాగంలో గురురాజా రజత పతకం సాధించిన సంగతి తెలిసిందే. గోల్డ్ కోస్ట్ వేదికగా జరుగుతున్న కామన్వెల్త్ గేమ్స్లో ఇప్పటి వరకు భారత్ గెలుచుకున్న రెండు పతకాలు వెయిట్ లిఫ్టింగ్లోనే కావడం విశేషం. దీంతో వీరి ప్రదర్శనపై సోషల్ మీడియా ప్రశంసల వర్షం కురుస్తోంది.
