- England have won their last four men’s T20Is on the bounce against the West Indies, as many as they had won in all their 15 meetings in the format prior; the Three Lions will be on the hunt for back-to-back multigame bilateral series wins against West Indies in men’s T20Is for the first time, following their 3-0 win in their most recent series prior to this one (March 2019).
- This will be the ninth meeting between the West Indies and England in the West Indies; the home side had won each of their first four meetings in the Caribbean while visiting England have enjoyed a four-game winning streak since; the last time the West Indies won at home against England was on March 11, 2014.
- The West Indies have lost eight of their last nine men’s T20Is heading into this fixture, including their last five on the bounce; the last time they lost more in succession was a six-game streak from March to August in 2019 which included three straight defeats to England.
- England have lost their last two men’s T20Is prior to this series and will be out to avoid a third-straight loss since a run of four defeats from September 2017 to February 2018; they’ll be looking to open back-to-back men’s T20I calendar years with a win for the first time since 2010-2011 after defeating India by eight wickets in their first fixture of 2021.
- England have a collective batting average of 95.5 against short balls in men’s T20Is since the beginning of 2021, the highest of any Test-playing nation in that time and more than four times as high as the West Indies (20.4) in the same period.
- England (90% - 1st) and the West Indies (83% - 3rd) boast two of the top three catching success rate of Test-playing nations in men’s T20Is since the beginning of 2021; the West Indies’ 70 runs saved in the field are also more than any other team.
- Nicholas Pooran (West Indies) is set to play his 50th T20I; the West Indies’ wicketkeeper has finished each of his last two T20I innings with a dot ball rate below 40%, as many times as he had done so in his six innings prior.
- Eoin Morgan (England) is 72 runs shy of becoming the ninth player to reach 2,500 runs in men’s T20Is and the first to do so for England; he has scored as many runs in a T20I innings only four times, however, and has a high score against the West Indies of 71 not out (September 2012).
- Kieron Pollard (West Indies) has taken 10 wickets and hit 410 runs in T20Is since the beginning of 2020; he is one of three players in the men’s format with 10+ wickets and 400+ runs in that time (Varun Thamotharam and Hristo Lakov).
