  • 19.6

Sheldon Cottrell to Rishabh Pant. Slower ball back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, to deep square leg for 2 runs, fielded by Lewis.

That was gripping T20 cricket, an innings that see-sawed back and forth leaving the match interestingly positioned at the end of it. Shivam Dube made the most of his promotion up the order, smacking four towering sixes on his way to a maiden T20I fifty. Rishabh Pant briefly showed his unorthodox brilliance as well, however the tourists made smart use of the slow surface to keep things tight. Hayden Walsh and Kesrick Williams were the pick of the bowlers with a couple of wickets each. This should be a cracking chase with the series on the line.

FOUR! Deepak Chahar to Nicholas Pooran. Slower ball short, down leg side on the back foot pulling, well timed past deep mid wicket for 4 runs. Pooran seals things with a rambunctious swat and the celebrations begin in the West Indies dugout.

West Indies have beaten India by 8 wickets in Thiruvananthapuram to level the T20I series, chasing 171 with nine deliveries to spare. Lendl Simmons and Evin Lewis laid the platform with a mature opening stand of 73 and the former kicked on to register a fine half century. That allowed explosive left-handers Shimron Hetmyer and Nicholas Pooran to play freely and charge to the target with ease in the end. India will regret a couple of dropped catches that ended up costing them dearly, despite a spectacular grab by captain Virat Kohli on the rope. Earlier in the day Shivam Dube smashed a maiden T20I fifty, showing impressive ability to get used to the slow surface before teeing off. In the end their total of 170/7 fell short of what was required as the dew came into effect and the tourists took advantage. That means we are set up for a thrilling conclusion to the series in Mumbai on Tuesday.
