Avinash Sharma is a seasoned sports journalist and digital media professional with over a decade of experience in news and sports journalism.
Currently serving as the Editor of MyKhel, one of India's leading sports portals, he has played a pivotal role in shaping its growth into a prominent destination for sports news, analysis, and exclusive content.
Avinash began his media career with NBS Journal in Noida, where he worked as a reporter for nearly a year. He then joined NitiCentral.com, a political news portal, as a Sub Editor, spending two years on the news desk covering politics, current affairs, and sports.
In 2014, he joined Oneindia as a Sub Editor, initially working on political news and breaking stories before transitioning to the sports desk to pursue his passion for sports journalism.
His association with MyKhel dates back to its formative years. Since 2017, Avinash has been instrumental in building the platform's sports coverage and editorial identity. Over the years, he has covered major sporting events across India, produced in-depth analyses, and conducted interviews with some of the biggest names in world sport. His work spans a wide range of disciplines, including cricket, athletics, hockey, kabaddi, badminton, boxing, wrestling, table tennis, and even Esports.
Recognised for his editorial leadership and commitment to quality journalism, Avinash was promoted to Senior Sub Editor in 2016, Chief Sub Editor in 2020, and subsequently elevated to the position of Editor in 2022. Under his leadership, MyKhel has expanded its sports coverage beyond cricket while strengthening its digital and multimedia presence.
Beyond writing and editing, Avinash actively contributes to multimedia storytelling. He anchors sports shows, conducts athlete interviews, and produces video content for Oneindia's YouTube channels and social media platforms, helping bring sports stories to audiences across formats.
An alumnus of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar, Avinash holds a Master's degree in Mass Communication and Journalism.
