Player Biography

Vaishnavi Sharma's rise reads like a spinner's dream fast-tracked, from Gwalior's local grounds to a senior India cap in barely a year. She bowls slow left-arm orthodox with a high-arm release that draws sharp drift into right-handers and vicious turn off the surface, a skillset she sharpened steadily through Madhya Pradesh's age-group system before establishing herself as the frontline spinner for both her state side and Central Zone.

Sharma’s domestic performances, punctuated by standout displays including finishing as the top wicket-taker in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy and joint-highest in the Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal T20 Trophy, steadily pushed her into the national spotlight. Her breakout moment on the global stage arrived at the 2025 ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup in Malaysia.

Sharma was the standout performer in India's title-winning campaign, finishing as the tournament's leading wicket-taker with 17 wickets and making history as the first Indian bowler, male or female, to take a hat-trick at an Under-19 Women's World Cup during her 5 for 5 spell against Malaysia.

That kind of tournament simply couldn't go unnoticed. Sharma earned an immediate call-up to the senior Indian squad, making her WT20I debut against Sri Lanka in Visakhapatnam in December 2025, before expanding into the 50-over format with her ODI debut against Australia in February 2026. She also stepped onto the franchise stage in January 2026, being signed by Mumbai Indians in the Women's Premier League as an injury replacement for G Kamalini.

Continuing her rapid development, Sharma featured prominently for India A on their tour of England in mid-2026 and across the multi-format series against Australia A in September 2026, regularly providing key middle-over breakthroughs.
